Questions, answered plainly

A useful answer is better than a polished guess.

Here are the practical questions people usually want to ask before arranging housekeeping or home help. Anything that depends on your home, postcode, or timing is discussed with you directly.

Start with the bit that matters

You do not need to know the service name first.

Tell us what has become difficult to keep on top of. We can work out the most useful starting point together.

Choosing the right support

The difference is mainly about what you want help with and how you want the visit to feel.

What is the difference between housekeeping and home help?

Housekeeping focuses on the regular jobs that keep a home clean and comfortable, such as cleaning, laundry, linen, and everyday resets. Home help is broader practical support around the home when a routine, built-up job, or household task has become harder to manage. We can talk through the difference before you decide.

Can I ask about support for a parent or another family member?

Yes. A family member can make the first enquiry and help explain what would be useful. We will still make sure the person receiving support is included in decisions and that any personal information is shared appropriately before anything is arranged.

Do you provide personal care or medication support?

No. The current offer is housekeeping and practical home help. Future domiciliary care is being planned separately and will only be offered after CQC registration is complete.

Planning a visit

The first conversation is there to work out whether the practical details make sense for your home.

How much does it cost?

Prices are not published as a fixed menu yet. The right starting point is a conversation about the home, the kind of help needed, and what you would like prioritised. Any price or quote would be confirmed with you before a visit is agreed.

How often can visits happen?

We can discuss a regular routine or a one-off visit, depending on what would help and what can be arranged. The exact frequency and timing are confirmed in conversation rather than assumed from the website.

How would access to my home work?

Access is agreed with you before the first visit. We can talk through whether someone will be home, how keys or entry instructions should be handled, and what you are comfortable with. No access arrangement is assumed until it has been discussed.

Do I need to provide cleaning products or equipment?

Tell us what you already have and whether particular products matter in your home. We will confirm what should be available or brought before the visit is agreed.

Can you work in a home with pets?

Pet households can be discussed during the enquiry. Let us know about your pets, any access or safety considerations, and what you would like to happen during a visit so expectations are clear.

What if I need to change or cancel a visit?

Please raise changes as soon as you can and ask for the current cancellation terms before booking. Any notice period should be clear before a visit is agreed.

Before you get in touch

A few details help us understand the next useful step without asking you to write a lengthy explanation.

How do I know whether you cover my area?

Coverage is confirmed by postcode because the practical route and availability can change. Send your postcode with a short note about the help you need and we can tell you whether the next step is suitable.

What should I include in my first message?

Your postcode, the kind of support you are considering, whether the need is one-off or ongoing, and any timing or access details you already know are useful. You can keep it brief; the conversation can fill in the gaps.

Is future care available to book now?

No. Domiciliary care is a future direction for Your Home Help and is not being offered until CQC registration is complete. The current contact route is for housekeeping and practical home help enquiries.

Still unsure where to start? A short message is enough. Contact Your Home Help and we can take it from there.
